At the end of 2012, we conducted a roundtable discussion on innovation in the rigging industry to get perspectives and insights about what is driving innovation and growth.

Wire Rope Exchange:  How do you define innovation in our industry?

Tom Miller:  To me innovation in the rigging industry is two-fold.  We’re focused on providing our customers with safer products that also promote ease of use. The loads are getting bigger and bigger, so the rigging also gets bigger and bigger – which means more weight and more opportunity for accidents. Providing a safer way to lift these larger loads is where we are looking.  Also, I think our own manufacturing practices have to be safer. Continue reading

AEM Announces Winners of 2010 “Construction Challenge” Student Competition

Twelve student teams from the United States and Canada have won the 2010 AEM Construction Challenge presented by Volvo Construction Equipment during the Global Finals competition of Destination ImagiNation. Harrington-Hoists extends help to Haiti

Harrington Hoists is contributing a range of lifting equipment to relief efforts in Haiti.

Harrington Hoists joins Columbus McKinnon Corporation (CMCO) in offering lifting equipment to the relief work ongoing in Haiti. Both companies’ products are being provided via the Industrial Supply Association, which has organised a means for all of its members to support the effort by providing a central staging area for shipping the donated equipment to the region. The first shipments from both Harrington Hoists and CMCO are scheduled to ship in February. Continue reading

Wire Rope Exchange works with ISA and WSTDA to help Haiti

The Wire Rope Exchange announces their work to help coordinate an industry-wide relief and rebuild effort for the recently devastated Haiti.  Wire Rope Exchange joins the Industrial Supply Association and the Web Sling and Tie Down Association to encourage companies amongst the industry to help Haiti rebuild through supply donations.

Columbus McKinnon responds to Haiti with Supply Donation

Columbus McKinnon Corporation, a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of material handling products, today announced it is contributing more than $40,000 worth of products to aid the recovery efforts in Haiti. Primary contributions include chain, load binders, and assemblies for moving heavy equipment, and manual hoists to assist in the removal of debris. Additionally, items that will assist farmers and other agricultural workers in both the short and long term will be included. Continue reading

Caterpillar donates equipment to Haiti Relief

Caterpillar Inc.’s foundation has tripled the amount of the dollar-for-dollar match of donations to the Haiti relief efforts, thanks to the amount of donations coming from employees, retirees and dealers.

The Caterpillar Foundation will match up to $300,000 in donations, up from the original pledge of $100,000, said spokeswoman Bridget Young. Continue reading
