CIC Releases New Program for Lift Directors

CIC NEW ProgramLift Directors play an important role in overseeing, planning, and executing load handling activities on the job site. Construction users in power generation, oil and gas, mining, heavy haul and transport, and other environments where critical lifts are a common occurrence are increasingly requesting qualified Lift Directors. In addition, several OSHA and ASME standards list responsibilities for lift directors. Industry Has 30 Days to Comment on Proposed Delay of Operator Certification

OSHA’s proposal to postpone the compliance date for crane operator certification by three years was finally made official on Feb. 7, 2014, when it was published in the Federal Register. The industry has until March 12, 2014 to comment on the rulemaking. Until a decision is reached, the current compliance date remains in effect for Nov. 10, 2014.
